"My Chess Background

I learned chess from a very young age and have played casually with my chess peers throughout Middle School and High School. I have become very passionate and obsessed with the game of chess. In fact, I have successfully played multiple games of chess at once with my friends.

Soon afterwards, I started to teach chess on a casual basis. I have seen my students develop a mindset and love of the game. In fact, a student of mine introduced the game of chess to one of his family members. And now she enjoys chess! Hearing this brings me great satisfaction.

As a chess player, I am always looking for ways to continuously develop and improve my understanding of the game. I began to seek out other resources for improvement such as private lessons, chess books, curriculums, software, videos, and articles which only benefited and develop my comprehension of this game.

Today I regularly compete and study chess. I am a regular at Lichess and enjoy participating OTB Tournaments offered at Play More Chess Academy.

Qualifications

I am a member of the Hamden Chess Club at Play More Chess Academy and enjoy both casual play and OTB Tournaments. I am also a member of Lichess and participate in Tactical Puzzles (1825), Casual Play (1500?), and Chess Tournaments.

Lesson Overview

Students can expect to cover topics such as Fundamentals of Chess, Opening Principles, Game Types, Mating Patterns, Center And Wing Configurations, Tactics, and The End Game. Lessons will consist of Concept Checks, Activities, Puzzles, and of course playing chess. All of this will be geared toward developing an abstract and critical thinking mindset. A deep understanding and love of the game of chess.

Why Chess?

There are many values that chess offers such as decision-making, curiosity, discipline, hard work, confidence, sportsmanship, and so much more. It is a good way to connect with other players and make friends. Anyone can learn it! No matter where you are in life, it is never too late to learn chess. Chess can be learned at any age, young or old. As long as the desire to learn exists.
