I have more than 30 years of experience as the Newspaper in Education and Marketing Director at a local newspaper where I wrote a weekly educational page for children, provided educational materials for K-12 teachers, and produced educational events for students, including the annual district Spelling Bee and Current Events Challenge. Under my leadership, the Newspaper in Education program won state and national awards for excellence and innovation.

I have a passion for education and especially literacy. I taught my own son how to read fluently and comprehend at the age of 5. (He will graduate in 2021 in the top 5 in his class.) I strongly believe reading is the foundation for all other subjects and is a primary indicator for success in school and life.
