"Hi everyone, I am Carrie. I am a university graduate who has worked in public and private schools. I have experience tutoring elementary, middle, and high school students in a variety of subjects. I excel in editing, proofreading, and formatting papers of all levels including professional, technical, and college works.
The one thing that sets me apart from other tutors is that I like to implement new strategies in order to get the student to fully comprehend the problem. For instance, with a younger student, rather than just memorizing facts and words we may play a game that uses the ideas in a fun way instead of a “boring” textbook. It is very important that a child understands what they are learning in a fun, educational, and stimulating manner. I have an M.Ed in Education/Human Development from the University of Maryland and a degree in Sociology from American Public University.
Fun facts:
**One day I would like to go overseas and teach English to foreign students and learn a new language myself!
**I can speak some French, but I would love to learn Chinese, Mandarin, and Spanish too!
**I love puppies! I have a teeny miniature dachshund named Rex and an adorable lab named Harley. If you are lucky you may get a glimpse of them during a session.
**Born and raised in Northern Virginia (or as I like to call it, Trafficland!)
My motto comes from a quote by Thomas Edison (yes, the light-bulb guy), “Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.”
I am excited to work with you!
