"I am a retired high school guidance counselor who lives part-time in northern Ohio and part-time in southern Florida. I always was the most excited when I met with my students. Getting them into colleges or careers was a passion of mine. A former French and English teacher, I am a great copy editor, so I love grammar and proofreading. My students always brought their resumes and essays to me for proofing. Rather than just editing, I took that opportunity to teach them their mistakes and encouraged them to re-write it themselves. I currently serve as a part-time academic advisor for the engineering tech dept. at Kent State University and I also love it. I was on the speech/debate team in high school and have coached those teams in my schools. I also taught driver's education in Ohio, which required a background check.

I love the English language and look at grammar as a puzzle that needs to be put together. I value diversity greatly, and always welcomed exchange students to the school where I worked. I also led student groups about ten times to Europe during my career. I believe in a practical approach to English. What do you need to get by day to day? That's what I try to teach my students who attend ESL classes in our church. I also know that all of us need to expand our understanding of world cultures.
