"I am a recently retired licensed Special Education Teacher with over 20+ years of progressive experience serving infants, toddlers and students in grades K-12 with a broad variety of developmental issues. I also had the opportunity to teach Special Education Kindergarten and the KIDS program. I am an extremely compassionate and patient person who acutely attunes herself to children’s individual academic functioning, emotional/affective needs and diverse learning styles. I have been recognized by multi-disciplinary education teams and parents as a gifted, creative and nurturing teacher. My extensive background includes working with children with Autism and Aspergers Syndrome in addition to children who are nonverbal or experience difficulty in receptive and/or expressive language skills. I can teach and communicate the fundamentals in sign language. As a Learning Specialist at The Children’s Hospital in Colorado, I presented departmental in-services on teaching strategies for children with ADD/ADHD. I served on the educational panel at the Rosenberry Conference, providing expertise to national cross-disciplinary mental health and educational professionals on instructional methodologies for children with Aspergers Syndrome.
I simply love what I do!" less...
