"My goal as a tutor is to bring out the best in students, whether it be through writing, professional development, or academic achievement. To achieve this goal, I will work with my students to determine academic strengths, to develop individualized strategies for success.
I love learning, but I love sharing my knowledge even more. My true passion is for life sciences, but I am interested in anthropology, linguistics, and communication as well. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Washington and a Master of Public Health in infectious disease epidemiology from Yale University. My passion for learning combined with my love of communication make me an excellent tutor; I tailor how I present ideas to each individual student so that they are able to internalize the material in a way that is most beneficial for themselves. To help my students I ask guiding questions to lead my student to the conclusion on their own.
I have a background in teaching as a writing and microbiology tutor at the University of Washington Office of Minority Affairs Instructional Center. I have also formally taught college courses in microbiology, biology, and public health ethics. In 2017, I taught a section of the introductory microbiology lab for non-majors at the University of Washington. In 2020, I led a discussion section of Biology, The World, and Us at Yale College, and in the same year served as a teaching assistant for the graduate Ethics course at the Yale School of Public Health.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions or requests. I am excited to begin working with you!" less...
