Background:

I graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Operations Research Engineering, during which I tutored statistics to fellow students. After I graduated, I worked as a business analyst as a bank, conducting statistical analyses of our business. I returned to Columbia University to get a Masters in Business before transitioning to consulting with Deloitte.

I’ve tutored more than 60 students, for 600 hours of instruction, in Dallas, New York, and Austin, focusing mostly on high school and college curricula. At Cornell I was asked to consult for Cornell’s Learning Strategies Center, where I taught Calculus and Statistics for 2 years.

I scored in the 99th percentile on ACT Math, SAT Math and GRE Quantitative sections. I scored 5/5 on Calculus and Statistics AP exams.

Teaching Philosophy:

Students are often taught ‘how’ to attack problems with memorization, but rarely the ‘why’ behind the method of attack. All students can learn math ‘tricks,’ those who understand the ‘why’ can invent them. To this end I teach.

Why I tutor:

It's challenging and it's fun! It’s satisfying to learn a difficult subject, but it's even more fulfilling to give that understanding to someone else. Many students don't realize how intelligent they are until they've been taught in a way that accommodates their learning style.
