"I bring to tutoring proven experience (see below), boundless enthusiasm, and an absolute refusal to be bored or boring. I am endlessly creative, and will find a way to make the material understandable to and interesting for you (and me), whether it means designing grammar lessons from Harry Potter or Falling Skies, or comparing Legos and Lincoln Logs to illustrate the differences in Latin conjugations. Don't confuse that with lack of challenge however! My students typically tell me, "This is actually fun, but I think I've never worked this hard in my life."

This is definitely not about fitting you into some one-size-fits-all approach. My priority is making this your individualized tutoring and I will work hard to help you identify your strengths and needs as well as the learning activities that work best for you. Student feedback is crucially important to me--whether from students or their parents, whether from one person or a group of 35.

My first tutoring job was the summer I turned 14: I tutored three rising 8th graders from my elementary school whom the school was concerned might not be able to handle 8th grade. The 8th grade teacher was delighted with their progress--something which amazes me now! I've gone on to tutor individuals, work with home school groups, tutor in a full-time home school academy (students attended two days a week and we gave them work for the other days), and teach in middle school, high school, college, GED classes, and private ESL programs.

I am willing to work with grades 5 through college. The subjects I prefer to work with are English grammar, writing, ESL, reading and Latin. I ordinarily do not accept last minute, "get-me-ready-for-this-test/exam-I'm-taking-in-two-weeks" assignments.

I've always been a good student. I did my undergraduate and two graduate programs on whole or partial merit scholarships. And if it were possible to get a job just taking standardized tests, I'd be a wealthy woman! I'm a voracious reader, an excellent writer, and lifelong learner. All of this" less...
