"Hi there! I have tutored in the past, specifically a child who struggled with reading and writing and working one on one, I was able to bring him up to grade level in just a couple months. I ran an afterschool program for middle school students; I've taught PreK through 5th grade as a sub and as a classroom teacher. I love teaching because I enjoy working with students and developing ideas that will help the student succeed. Getting to know the students and their individual ways of learning is an opportunity to use my knowledge and abilities to help a student grow academically and in self confidence!

I love reading and there are so many excellent children's books available! I use literature as a way of creating learning themes to help students make a connection to what they are learning - from something as basic as phonics to something more complex such as writing their own stories.

I am a NYS certified El Ed teacher with many years of experience as a public school substitute teacher and I have had my own classroom in private schools. Teaching math is fun, especially when you use manipulatives such as Legos or building blocks or for that matter almost anything you can find in your house! How about learning multiplication from a pizza? I have taught math at all levels.
