"Andrés A., 20-year-old oboist based in New York City, is in the third year of his degree in Oboe Performance at the Manhattan School of Music, studying with James Austin Smith. He performs in the MSM orchestras, musical, Baroque Aria, and Tactus ensembles. In addition to his studies, he is also a Freelance performer where he has been hired by various collegiate institutions such as New York University, Pace Univeristy, Purchase College, and Queens College. He has also performed with the Regina Opera, Bronx Opera, and Eastern Opera Companies.

He began playing oboe at age 11 at Third Street Music School Settlement with Christa Robinson. A graduate of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Art and Performing Arts where he was performed as Principal oboe of the Symphony Orchestra, in the Senior Jazz Big Band, Musical and Opera Pit Orchestras.At LaGuardia, he won the 2017 Concerto Competition playing Antonio Salieri’s Double Concerto for Flute and Oboe. He was a recipient of the LaGuardia High School Alumni and Friends Graduation Award for Outstanding Musicianship as well as the Jane Taylor Music award. He was a member of the Interschool Orchestras of New York (ISO) for 6 years where he performed in the Symphonic Band conducted by Brian Worsdale and Symphony Orchestra conducted by Jeffrey Grogan. He has studied at Manhattan School of Music Pre-college (MSM) under Jennifer Raymond, Broadway Oboist: Keve Wilson, and the Imani Winds’ oboist: Toyan Spellman-Diaz. At MSM, he was the principal oboe of the Philharmonic Orchestra formerly conducted by the late Jonathan Strasser, Brian Worsdale, and Nathan Hetherington. He was selected to perform in Music For All’s 2016, 2017, and 2018 Honor Orchestra of America in Indianapolis conducted by Larry Livingston and Sey Ahn, and Jeffrey Grogan. Over the Summer, He has attended Frenchwoods Camp for the Performing Arts where he has played in the Symphony Orchestra, Concert Band, Big Band, and various musical pit orchestras such as On The Town, Cinderella, H.M.S.
