"I'm Kate! I am a coach, trainer, and social worker and tutor with a Masters Degree in Social Work. Though tutoring is a new endeavor for me in an official capacity, I have over 20 years of success in my ability to inspire, motivate, empower, coach, mentor, teach and support the educational and professional development of others.
My career spans across a myriad of systems and realms of home and community based Social Work including: Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice systems; Workforce Development; Emergency Assistance; and Family Self Sufficiency. My progressively responsible experience allowed me to develop and expand a strong foundation of knowledge and diverse set of skills in practice, project management and leadership.
It is my current role as a coach and trainer for Child Welfare staff and leadership that has proven to be the culmination of my career to date. In this role, I have discovered my natural passion and talent for interweaving my foundation of broad expertise into my facilitation of learning processes. I have the ability to leverage this passion, talent and skill set as a tutor to create a lively learning environment which makes learning and growth both safe and fun.
In my current role, I coach to support: social work practice and skills; confidence; professional development; facilitative leadership; strength-based management; good working relationship and courageous conversations; and the overall strengthening of organizational health. What I love most about coaching are the "Aha" moments. This is the moment that the learner sees they in fact have the answer. Utilizing powerful and reflective questions, I safely guide the learner through the critical and analytical thinking process to surface their own knowledge, training and skills; while simultaneously incorporating my experience, knowledge and skills.
Words matter. I am exceptional writer. I have successfully written Requests For Proposals (RFP), grant and contract reports and developed training manuals and training curriculums.
