"I’ve been happily married for 47 years. We have grown children and 17 grandchildren. We live in San Marcos Texas, which is half-way between Austin and San Antonio. We have lived in 9 states in every part of the country and I have visited 48 states – two more to go: North Dakota and Wisconsin. I’ve also lived in three foreign countries, Germany, Japan and the UK and I’ve visited six additional countries. I love visiting small towns and national parks and I’ve been to 22 of them. You can tell geography has been a large part of my life.
I have studied and worked in the physical sciences most of my life. I have a B.S. degree from the University of Utah in physical geography (geospatial science) with enough hours for a minor in geology. I have an M.S. degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska in Science Education. I also have 18 post-graduate hours in adult learning and education technology from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
I was an Air Force image analyst for eight years where I studied the earth from aerial photographs. For four years I taught U.S. Government geospatial analysts how to analyze multi-spectral imagery and for a year and half I taught a physical science class at a junior college in Maryland. From there I moved to teaching physical science college classes online. In 2005 I taught my first online class in General Geology, and I followed that with ten courses each in Intro to Physical Science and Intro to Earth & Space Science.
Tell me about yourself and what areas of science interest you? Give me an opportunity to help you understand some concepts in the physical sciences. When you understand a concept for the first time, like the difference between vector and raster data, or balancing a chemical equation; when that light goes on, you feel like you can handle anything! I still keep in contact with former students on Facebook, students who discovered that science can be fun. It can be fun for you too; so let me help you open scientific windows tha" less...
