"Hi, I'm Daniel and I graduated from UCLA with a B.S. in Biochemistry. Throughout college I volunteered as a tutor for the AVID program at a local high school. It was this experience that ignited my passion for coaching students academically. I currently work with students of all ages, from elementary grades to college. I tutor honors and AP students as much as remedial students.

It was this experience that ignited my passion for coaching students academically. I currently work with students of all ages, from elementary grades to college. What can students expect from me at a lesson?

I take pride in providing the highest quality teaching. I only teach subjects I know I am qualified to teach and am continually refreshing my knowledge by reviewing on my own before I meet for a lesson. I tutor multiple subjects, and students can use the lesson time for help in any classes listed on my page. For example, a student may request tutoring for a math assignment and prepare for a biology quiz at the same lesson. There's no need to schedule separate lessons for each subject.

How often should a student meet for a tutorial?

An aggressive tutoring regimen is not always necessary. Most students like a weekly lesson to stay on schedule with material they've learned the previous week. Students will benefit from two 1-hour lessons if they have fallen behind or are trying to learn new study skills. Others will schedule lessons on an as-needed basis (e.g. SAT/ACT test prep). All of these approaches can yield positive results.

How are parents involved?

It's important to me to inform parents/guardians on their student's progress. I'll give progress reports with every lesson or as often as possible. I'll provide these updates either in person, over the phone, or by email. I welcome your feedback and input. Please let me know if there are specific ways that I can help your student.

How soon can my student see results?

Many students notice results after the first lesson, demonstrating a deeper understanding of the subject material and having more clarity. Work habits, study skills, and test-taking skills take longer to develop--at least one month of dedicated practice." less...
