"I have provided private tutoring for students since 2003. I have assisted students from ages 5-18, in understanding daily lessons in all subject areas and helped them meet the high expectations of their classroom teachers.I have worked on lessons, writing assignments, projects and preparing for tests such as MCAS. I have also continued to work on speech and language goals with students with hearing loss.
As I have both my Bachelor's in Elementary Education and my Master's in Oral Deaf Education, I have been responsible for constructing daily schedules, planning weekly lessons, arranging field trips, writing education plans and assessing follow-up reports. I have worked as a member of an educational team with classroom teachers, an Auditory-verbal therapist and Occupational therapists, in order to implement a student's individualized needs based on his/her IEP. Daily communication with classroom teachers and/or parents is vital in order to pre-teach and post-teach lessons. In the past I have coordinated and adapted lessons ,incorporating students benchmark goals and the mainstream teacher's goals. As a lead teacher, I was responsible for addressing an international group of parents with their child's needs as well as assisting them in ways to help their children make a smooth transition into a new school setting. During the summer, I have worked with middle school and high school students in a private summer school program to help prepare students for the upcoming year as well as improve writing and math skills.
As a volunteer ESL tutor in college, I enjoyed working with a diverse adult population on reading and writing skills. I have also worked with adult populations when volunteering in "Read Write Now" in Springfield, Massachusetts. As an assistant teacher in this program, I helped adults reach their reading goals in this inner-city adult literacy program.
I look forward to meeting with you!" less...
