"I hold a B.A. in linguistics. I speak French and Spanish fluently and have experience in tutoring in both subjects. I have lived in Spain and France in the past. At university I focused on language acquisition, psycholinguistics (how the mind processes language) and language teaching methodology. I am able to employ a traditional grammar method of teaching or the more verbal "direct method," depending on the preference of the student. I conducted linguistic field research into the Navajo language, as well as a language related to Swahili in East Africa.

I have also tutored in English, both reading and writing. I taught English in Portugal and in Kenya as a TEFL teacher in the early 2000s. I worked as a newspaper reporter for four years and my work during that time was recognized by state and local agencies. I continue to work as a freelance writer.
