"I am an experienced engineer and went back to school to get my masters in education assuming I would have to change careers after losing my previous engineering job due to an economic downturn. My plan was to become a high school physics teacher. My plans changed when I obtained an engineering job right after obtaining my teaching degree.

I tutored when I was still in high school and really enjoyed it. While working on my master's degree, I was a substitute teacher and also tutored a student in math one day a week. I would like to continue helping students through tutoring, as I find it rewarding and meaningful.

As a high school student, I was at the top of my class and was awarded a small cash prize at the end of my senior year. I tutored two fellow students while in high school (trigonometry) and a middle school student in math while studying for my masters degree.

I was an award winning high school student in science and developed an interest in physics. This lead me to pursuing a degree and career in mechanical engineering. I was able to use my physics background during my career in a practical way. When student teaching for my master's degree, I was able to use unique practical real world examples when teaching my students.

I was member of my high school chess club and have continued playing off and on during my life.

I prefer to use real world and current social and entertainment trends to help students understand physics and engineering. I've been known to use angry birds examples to teach about projectiles and could see the use of current media to teach other physics topics. Oh and I like to build scale models which I have used as practical examples of physics based concepts." less...
