"I am a native English speaker and have lived many places in the United States. I have a Bachelor's degree in History, but have a general interest in English and especially a love of English grammar, spelling, and vocabulary. I enjoy the challenges and rewards of writing really good papers, emails, and other compositions. As a volunteer tutor, I was impressed by the initiative and efforts of many non-native speakers to learn English. Though I am only fluent in English, one of my favorite experiences was studying Spanish as a foreign language in high school. I recently received my TESOL certification from Regent University.

My tutoring experience is exclusively to ELLs, although I have experience as a substitute teacher in elementary classrooms. I have worked with native and non-native English-speaking college students on grammar and writing. I consider tutoring to be a fun privilege and challenge, especially when the student is motivated. Therefore, I aim to help students connect with the content in a meaningful way. I try to strike a balance between challenging the student and keeping learning fun without frustrating the student.
