"I've always been crazy for reading, from the cereal box in the morning to a great book of adventure. Whenever I could find time as a girl I curled up in my grandfather's chair with a Tarzan or Nancy Drew Novel. I also love History, especially Ancient History. Books are a window to the world, whether it's an e-book or the old fashioned kind.

I also would draw, on little tablets, what I interpreted from what I had read. This interest grew to drawing my animals and family, especially home-made Christmas Cards. As an adult I have dabbled with painting, and sold a few, but my real love is drawing in pencil, ink and charcoal. When you see how certain use of an eraser can actually make your picture pop in 3D, it's exciting. It's a great way to express yourself.

At this time I am working on a graphic novel so I can express myself with words and pictures.

I am 62 years old, widowed, with three children and one grandchild. I am going to supply my granddaughter with plenty of books and hope that she is a 'reader' too. I have two cats and a fish that are dear to me and a garden.

My hope is to pass along to my reading students an ability to comprehend and enjoy what they are reading, even if it's just cramming for a test.

My art students will be able to express their version of what they see with depth, highlight and shading in just one or two lessons and then take it as far as they want to go.
