I have been teaching and tutoring in physics and math since high school because I love to help students learn. In this time, I’ve learned to adapt my teaching to the needs of students with many strengths and styles, and how to be effective with students whose first language isn’t English. I consider myself more a teacher than a tutor, so my focus is helping students learn and not just scrape by in their course: I don’t take clients who are crashing for a test or trying to finish a whole problem set the night before it’s due.

The key to students’ progress is learning to see physics as a way of thinking about the world and not a collection of formulas. Though testing strategies are valuable (and I teach them), there is no substitute for the kind of understanding that lets you feel physics in your bones. And though that kind of understanding may seem like magic, I’ve spent a great deal of time figuring out how to demystify it. Solving a physics problem always requires some key insight beyond the formulas, but you can arrive at this insight systematically rather than by a stroke of genius. I look forward to using my extensive pedagogical experience and professional physics expertise to help you achieve your educational goals." less...
