"Hi, I'm Eric! I am a PhD student in Microbiology at Yale University; previously, I graduated from Yale College with a joint Bachelor's/Master's degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB). I am committed to helping my students improve their writing to develop genuine, insightful, and unique college essays. Over the past several years, my students have been accepted to top-tier universities, including the University of Pennsylvania, UCLA, and Yale. Additionally, I have extensive experience tutoring biology and other STEM subjects at multiple levels, from middle school students to undergraduates.

I am a firm believer in the idea that, regardless of the subject matter, everything should be presented in a way that makes intuitive sense. My goal is to help my students understand things well enough for them to become obvious. As a result, I place much more importance on the thought process than the answer itself. Ultimately, I believe that the best way to learn is by teaching others. After walking students through a concept, I often ask them to explain it back to me. Being able to communicate ideas clearly and concisely to others is how I know you have a solid grasp of the material.

Although I usually focus on teaching conceptual understanding, I know from experience that standardized tests are their own unique situation. Success in standardized testing requires not only knowledge and understanding, but also excellent time management and test-taking strategy. When preparing students for tests, I make sure to cover these aspects in addition to the material itself.
