"Hello! Hola! Bonjour! Konichiwa! Salaam Alaikum! I am passionate educator who believes in lifelong learning. I recently moved to Wisconsin and am currently working as a substitute teacher. I have a Minnesota teaching license in K-12 English as a Second Language (ESL) and am working towards a Masters degree in Education. Before moving to Wisconsin, I tutored adult English Language Learners for two years through refugee resettlement programs. I also tutored high school students (9th-12th grade) in a college preparation program. During my student teaching, I worked with 2nd and 4th graders to get elementary school experience and also worked with 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to get secondary school experience. Though I am not fluent in a language other than English, I know small amounts of Spanish, Japanese, French, and Somali.

I am a patient teacher, but I also insist on hard work. I expect students to practice skills between sessions and may assign small homework assignments to help with that practice. These assignments, along with informal assessments, help me track student progress towards goals. I like to use hands-on experiences and real-world examples as much as possible when teaching. I also try to learn about each student's learning style so that I can be sensitive to these preferences during sessions. Tutoring sessions typically last 1 to 2 hours, but I am flexible depending upon the student's needs.
