"I have 20 years of experience as a standardized test tutor and have raised student's scores by as much as 200 percent. I also teach speed reading and make math fun. I have Master's degrees from Northwestern University and Columbia Teachers College. I have taught GMAT courses at Nyack College in New York.
Please don't be put off by my price. I have charged $125 an hour and gotten raves in the New York area. I can teach you to teach yourself in 1 hour, and can help you to easily double your reading speed within my hour consultation, as well as give you unique vocab, essay, and math tips. When we meet, if have a recording device with you we will get 2 or 3 hours done in 1 hour!
I have been asked to go to Paris, France to tutor a student for the SAT a few years ago.
Tutoring is a meld, a fusion of counseling and teaching, and I love both.
I share unique guessing techniques as well as simplifying content. Each child is unique and there is no cookie-cutter method to maximize test scores, so I listen to the child and we work together as a partners.
I have the enthusiasm of a novice and the experience of a greybeard.
On a practical level, I can give more useful information in one hour than the vast majority of tutors can give in 2 or 3. For many students, being able to double their effective reading speed and learning sophisticated guessing strategies will significantly raise their scores, independent of a complete content review.
To give you an example of how detailed and thorough I am, I have cataloged the most common reasons for reckless answers on every section of the test and the best countermeasures to have no more than 5 percent reckless answers. For example, on the English ACT test, at least 200 percent more reckless answers occur when the student has to flip pages to find the answer. We practice not only hard content questions, but those questions such as the above that are most likely to elicit reckless answers.
For you personal best on that standardized test!" less...
