"Hi I'm Zoheb!

I currently work as a Senior Finance Analyst. I also consult with the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics as an economist analyzing inflation. I graduated from the University of California, San Diego, where I majored in quant. Econ., and political science. I also wrote a dissertation, which was about 100 pages in math/econ/political science to graduate with highest honors (both majors), in 3 years.

I have been a tutor to numerous students over 13 years, from middle school to graduate students. One of the things I have learned through my education is that it is not enough to work hard, you must learn to work smart. The methods I teach will not only help you learn the material and concepts but also get the results with the most efficiency, so that you can do more, with less time. You have probably seen other children/students who can achieve straight A's, and make it look easy. With my assistance, we can achieve this!

I realize that due to the technical concepts involved in stats., algebra, and higher levels of math, students tend to memorize formulas and concepts, but become frustrated when they encounter problems that require them to apply variations of those formulas or concepts. In general, I address this issue by explaining the concepts in terms of real-world scenarios.

Specifically, I first determine whether students are having difficulties with understanding the connection between a particular concept and its application to the problem. Then, I explain each step of the problem as it relates to the concept(s) in the context of relevant real word scenarios while confirming that they truly understand my explanations. Finally, I assign problems that involve applying the concept(s) in similar ways to the ones with which they were having difficulty but also in different ways that require a firm understanding.
