Hi, I'm Marta. I have a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from UC Berkeley and have worked as a psychology professor for 30 years. As a professor I have extensive experience with one-to-one tutoring and mentoring of students, both teenagers and adults. I have worked with students from many different cultures and language groups. After many years teaching I have found that the most gratifying part of my work is one-to-one instruction. My tutoring approach is individualized to meet the needs of different students. I begin with exercises developed to assess the student's current level of understanding and any roadblocks that have made the topic particularly difficult them. For writing instruction I give extensive feedback to the student for revision and rewriting. For statistics, which many students find very difficult, I present real world examples and demonstrate how the concepts and equations statisticians use enable them to address real world problems.

As a professor I have spent years teaching critical reading and writing as part of various psychology courses. I have also taught courses in basic statistics. My teaching techniques have been adapted and revised over time to meet the needs of students at different levels. For each class I met with students individually and in small groups for intensive instruction to ensure that they were comfortable with the material. With a Ph.D. in Psychology I am available to tutor Psychology at any level. I am also available to meet for instruction in conversational English.
