"My name is Karah, and my pronouns are she/her. I've been a tutor and teacher in many subjects since 2008. No matter the subject, my passion has always been to support people in achieving their goals, and, most importantly, to enjoy learning.
I began tutoring Bachelors and Masters students across disciplines while in college, and I enjoyed working one on one with many different kinds of learners, including ESL, and neuro-diverse. I quickly became a much-sought after tutor for my ability to break down concepts effectively for students which lead to real success in their coursework. I was also sought for the ways I built students' confidence through my patience, calmness, and warmth.
After getting my Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art, I pursued a Master's in Teaching English as a Second Language with an emphasis in Digital Media and Learning. In 2016, I began teaching as a professor in Language Arts Departments across several institutions, from Community College to Universities, including abroad at the University of Tokyo. I have had excellent course outcomes in College-Level English Language (ESL) and English Composition courses. I have been invited to work as a supporting instructor in other disciplines as well, increasing students success rates in those courses. Alongside my teaching, I continue to tutor students. I now working in a private high school, supporting students across subjects, including Math, Science, and organizational and study strategies.
With my creative background in the fine arts and robust background in online teaching and learning, I am adept at empowering learners find unique strategies to engage their learning dragons, both online and in person.
I am a lifelong learner, so I am always open to feedback, suggestions and ideas from students, parents and instructors for ways I can better support my clients.
