"Hello everyone, my name is Alex I currently work as a Nurse Educator for UNC Hospitals specializing in emergency, trauma and critical care. Education is a keystone in nursing, whether it be a patient, their family or a newer member of the team, it is what enables healthcare to grow beyond what it is today. I have always enjoyed providing that moment of clarity for others and do so with an innovative and visionary approach to learning. This inspired me to pursue my Masters Degree in Education. Since then I have a proven ability to build and integrate learning into a flipped classroom platform enabling greater engagement and retention. I aim to provide the most evidence-based theories of learning and content within my specialty areas.

I have a very wide an unique background in healthcare I started out as an Emergency Medical Technician many years ago working critical care transport and high volume events like raves and concerts. Soon after I transitioned into nursing earning my BSN in 2013 and then my MSN the end of 2018. During my nursing career I have work in Emergency/Trauma and Critical Care roles. I have been an Emergency Room Nurse, Trauma Nurse, Flight/Air Medic specializing in search and rescue, special operations and tactical medicine. Today as mentioned above I am the Nurse Educator for the Trauma Program and UNC Hospitals and am responsible for coordinating education efforts for over 20 smaller hospitals and EMS agencies within a 10 county region as well as providing unit-specific education.
