"From the time I was a little girl I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I paid very close attention to the teaching styles of my teachers and realized that the most effective teachers were the ones who brought their own experiences to the class and their lessons. With this in mind, I knew I wasn't ready to enter the classroom when I graduated from college. I followed my dream to serve my country and joined the Air Force. I served for four years in the intelligence field, and had a special duty assignment in the office of the commander USCENTAF/9TH Air Force. Upon leaving the Air Force I worked as a secretary at a medical facility. I finally entered the classroom when I felt I had a lot more to give to my students.

I have been a classroom teacher for the past ten years. I have had classes as small as nine students to as large as 40 students. I have also had experience with tutoring. I tutored for the Alabama High School Graduation Exam, which was a high stakes exam, and had a 90% pass rate. One year I tutored two students who were failing their history classes (They had different teachers, and their averages were both in the low 40s), and by the end of the nine weeks their grades had improved to a B and a C, and they continued to improve throughout the school year. My students tell me they like my class because I actually explain things to them in a way they understand. Even students who are not in my class come to me for help from time-to-time because I explain things to them. The student body at my school has voted me the strictest teacher and the best all around educator.

I have a B.S. in Secondary Social Science Education from Auburn University. I have also started on my Masters degree in Social Science Education. I have taught AP Government and Politics, Government/Economics, Honors U.S. History I, U.S. History I and II, Pre-AP World History, World History, and Geography.
