"Hello! My name is Jamila. I was born in Brooklyn NY but I have lived in New Jersey for most of my life. I am very excited to be your teacher! I am a recent graduate of Rutgers University, New Brunswick. Undergrad I studied Cultural Anthropology because I have always been interested in different cultures. I wish to explore the world, understand the complexities of it, and promote peaceful initiatives to resolve global conflict. These desires led me to the Cornell Institute of Public Affairs where I am completing my MPA with a concentration in International Development. Although my professional career consists of broader goals, language learning has always been very important to me. Throughout my studies, I have taken courses in Spanish and French in order to speak with people from different places in the world. I hope that I can learn from you as well!

In addition to Pre Kindergarten and Kindergarten school instruction, I taught English to adults at Rutgers through an organization called the Conversation Tree. This is a unique program that promotes English language learning as a process that should be fun, that should build relationships, and promote access to social mobility. I understand that it is very important to learn a language but that it can be hard. I'm here to make English fun. In my classes we will learn through casual conversation and lessons will be designed to fit your lifestyle.
