"I'm Quaneisha. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with Bachelor's degrees in Elementary Education and African American Studies. I returned to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to earn a Master's degree in Literacy (K-12). Most recently, I became a newly certified ESL teacher (K-12).

My desire to see struggling students make progress and to assist with closing the achievement gap led me to start my own tutoring business. I began tutoring face-to-face in 2014. I tutored students in their homes and at local libraries. On average I worked with each client for 5 years. I tutored my clients primarily in reading and math. I have been a face-to-face tutor for five years and I saw amazing results in the students that I have worked with.

During my tutoring sessions, I use the model of I do (model for the students), we do (we practice the concept together and I scaffold as needed) and you do (the student practices independently. In addition, I incorporate the model of assessing, planning, teaching, assessing, reflecting, and reteaching if needed. Both of these models have produced great academic success for my clients as well as the students in my classroom.

I would like to assist my students as much as possible. So, I am open to recommendations from parents and teachers (of the students) of resources or strategies that have worked well for the student.
