"Hi I'm Jena! I am a sophomore at the University of Rhode Island as a double major in Secondary Education and History with a minor in Psychology. I've grown up in RI for the majority of my life, graduating in 2018 as Cumberland High School Alumni. Ever since High School, I have had great pleasure in helping my peers and classmates to ensure that they can fully understand the material being taught. I have been tutoring fellow students in subject areas I tend to excel in since my sophomore year of High School. I hope to be a high school teacher once I graduate from URI because I have such a passion for helping children reach their full potential. I'm familiarized with many different learning strategies and techniques and I am determined to help students find their own learning style to help them grow. I always aim to create an enjoyable and fun environment during my tutoring sessions as well.

I have two years of elementary tutoring experience in a program run by my high school called Reading Buddies. During this time, I would go to my town's elementary schools after school and help K-5th graders with any work/ homework they may be struggling with. This was probably one of the most enjoyable experiences in my years of tutoring because I was able to work one on one with different students each day I went. During this time, I felt as though I was able to break through and help my students understand the material.

Although I have never tutored Anthropology, I have taken a full year course in High School of general Anthropology. In addition to this, I have taken cultural, biological, and linguistic anthropology courses during my time in college. Because of this deepened interest, I have been able to help my peers in these classes with me so they can grasp the material. This is my favorite subject area to learn, help other people learn, and I hope to eventually teach anthropology when I become a teacher.
