"I’m Molly! In 2020, I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature; due to the current global situation, I’ve deferred my Master’s program by one year, and I’m now available to tutor on Cape Cod. Language allows us to connect with the world around us— something that’s become more complicated by the impact of COVID-19.

During college, I tutored at my college’s Writing Center. I’ve tutored for general writing, as well as the more specific areas of research papers, senior theses, résumés, cover letters, and application supplementals. In addition to my writing tutoring, I feel confident tutoring on content within the subject of English: I have TA’d for various college-level courses, been a teacher’s aid for high school classes, and designed and taught my own college elective.

My tutoring praxis focuses on building skills, autonomy, and self- confidence in my students, rather than simply giving them quick-fixes. I’ve found that focusing on the writer, rather than the writing, yields better long-term results— the same goes for focusing on the student rather than the work they submit. I am invested in using language as a tool for empowerment and self-advocacy, and while I look to elevate and clarify students’ writing, I always make sure that my tutoring does not interfere with a student’s own individual voice or ideas. I’m very flexible when it comes to approaches, since every student is different and has distinct needs; there isn’t a ‘cookie-cutter’ solution to struggles with education because there’s no ‘cookie-cutter’ student. My biggest hope is to run myself out of a job; I want my students to gain skills and confidence so that they no longer need my assistance tackling and overcoming challenges.

All of this to say— I’m a huge literature lover, and I’d be delighted to tutor your students during these confusing and challenging times. I want to see students succeed despite the state of the world right now; Gen Z deserves flexible educational solutions to the complex challenges that schoo" less...
