"I’m Lisa. I graduated from Teachers College in China majored in Chinese linguistics. Chinese is my native language. I had taught Chinese in middle schools with Chinese Teacher Certification for 7 years in China. Since I moved to America, I have continued to engage in teaching Chinese Mandarin for 20 years, and have taught students from kindergarten to adulthood.

I enjoy the teaching process. When I have worked for Chinese program in Catholic school board, I utilize pedagogical skills such as GPA (The Growing Participator Approach) to convey and teach basic pronunciation and tonal inflections of Mandarin Chinese & its verbalization along with reading & writing skills. For tutoring students, I typically make an individual learning plan based on the student’s interests, level, and personality. I encourage my students to develop their self-learning skills. I love this job. I tutor with caring and extreme patience which allows for continuous student feedback, making connections from prior learning, so that, they will become competent readers, and independent learners in Chinese mandarin language. I have natural rapport with all students I engage in the educational learning process. After my tutoring, my students can speak and read Chinese by themselves.
