"Hey I'm John! Growing up with teachers for parents, I have had a lifelong love of teaching and especially teaching math. When given the opportunities to teach math classes and take a job as a science tutor in college, I jumped at the chances. Once I finished with my bachelors in applied mathematics (and minor in chemistry) I spent a year teaching at a small high school in Albuquerque, NM before deciding to return to school to pursue a graduate degree in math.
As a masters student, I accepted a Teaching Assistantship and taught both calculus 1 and 3which was a blast! From there I figured I'd spend some time in industry and I have worked the last two years at Epic Systems in Wisconsin. It's been fun learning to program but I'm ready to return to education in some form or another. I'm trying to gain experience tutoring while I work on my teaching license and go back to teaching high school or college.
I've taught a variety of math courses in the past to both high school and college students including Algebra 1, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus 1, and Calculus 3, and I've tutored many more! I have a masters in applied mathematics and lots of tutoring and teaching experience.
I love helping students out with concepts they are struggling with, or finding new ways to explain things. I try to incorporate pictures or other teaching methods whenever possible since I know many students don't learn best from lecture. After all, I'm here to work with you not talk at you. Feel free to contact me with any questions you have and to schedule lessons." less...
