"I began tutoring a few months ago while working part-time in my husband's company, primarily as a favor to friends who had children who were struggling in high school or college with finance and/or accounting courses. I found I loved it. Over the years, I have also assisted many adults who knew of my background in communications and who needed help with public speaking engagements.
In addition to my college majors in business/ finance and in communications, I have spent over fifteen years working with major corporations (EDS, Blockbuster, and 7-11) in finance and accounting related positions as well as in public relations roles. In my work for these Fortune 500 companies, I have not only held positions handling the "nitty-gritty" of finance and accounting but also writing presentations, both general and finance-specific, for executive team members. I have also helped management members perfect their delivery of these presentations. I have always enjoyed working with young people and have not only mentored interns reporting directly to me, but have also run the firm-wide internship programs for two of the corporations listed above.
I love working with young adults helping them to master finance and accounting. I think both subjects can be fun--despite popular perceptions, and I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm. I also get great satisfaction out of helping speakers of all ages to make the best presentations possible--whether that presentation be before a high school class, a charitable organization, or a major corporate of industry event. In addition, I believe I can be a good guide to career development given my many years of working inside corporations and seeing the culture, career paths and options they offer.
I was able to parlay my 3.75 GPA in college and my editorship of the college newspaper into a full scholarship to graduate school while acting as senior advisor to the college newspaper after my graduation.
