"I love to tutor! And my success as a tutor comes from my 25 years of experience as well as my enthusiasm in showing students how they can progress in subjects that they are struggling with.
The breath and scope of experience that I have in teaching and tutoring students started when I was a high school English teacher in Ontario, Canada. I taught all aspects of English to secondary students.
Later, I taught elementary school children in the After School Enrichment Program in the local public school system. I then taught basic academic skills to adults on the community college level. Following that, I spent several years as an ESL instructor, and later worked as an academic advisor Then I operated a GED computer lab for nine years in a local neighborhood sponsored by the college. Now I work on campus in college's GED computer lab. The students come from all levels of learning. I access their academic position in writing, reading, and math. Some come with very few academic skills, and others have more developed ones. I then customize a learning path that will help them achieve their goals and needs.
Not only does my background help me to be a very effective tutor, but also my gift and skill for imparting material in a simple way. I relate to and empathize with each student’s issue, and develop a keen sense of an individual’s learning style very soon. I constantly monitor each student as I am tutoring to see what works, and what doesn’t. I then adjust my approach for the best benefit.
I am available for approximately 4-7 hours each day, Monday through Thursday, all day Friday, and for several hours on Saturday and Sunday." less...
