"Hello, I'm Bruce V. I've recently retired from a 27-year teaching career. Nearly all of those years were at Estes Park Middle School. I have had a lifelong desire to teach and also coach both middle school and also high school aged students. One of the most rewarding things a teacher can experience is crossing paths of a former student who expresses fond memories of your class. It is very rewarding.

One of my most challenging 7th graders, I'll call him Dave, was a angry young man but I refused to give up on him. He unfortunately, dropped out of high school, but wanted me to tutor him to get his GED. His biggest gaps were in math. We met weekly for about 12 weeks and he did pass the GED. That was a great day for both Dave and myself.

Social Studies and English classes are often integrated with shared projects. I've planned such projects with Language Arts teachers and have enjoyed bringing in English into the Social Studies.

I have a degree in US History. Most of my 27 years of teaching I've taught World Geography and World History.
