"I teach both adults and children primarily in two areas: reading/writing and art. My wide skillset stretches from beginning reading and writing to advanced academic writing. I completed my master's thesis last year, so have recent knowledge of APA format. I can teach a fifth grader to write a basic 5-paragraph essay, then move to helping a high school student write a more sophisticated research paper or application essay, and finish out my evening helping a graduate student explore how to write and format an annotated bibliography or understand different methodologies for organizing their research data.

I am open to special needs students who might need a therapeutic or individualized approach. It helps when a teacher can de-stress the process and break it down into manageable pieces, no matter what the age or level of the student.

For art students: I am both a writer and and an artist. My bachelors is in fine art, from Pratt Institute, in Brooklyn, NYC, currently the #1 rated art college in the United States. I won their National Talent Search my senior year of high school and attended on a talent scholarship. I am a classically trained oil painter, and trained also in drawing, printmaking, photography, ceramics, sculpture, color theory, and art history. I studied watercolor technique at Rudolf Steiner College during my Waldorf teacher training. I studied masters level oil painting with a private studio teacher who is an instructor in the DAP program at U.C. I am currently studying therapeutic art making, including the use of drawing, painting, collage, and other mixed media for symbolic processing of feelings, and issues of self and identity, towards creating wellness and wholeness of the individual. I am good at helping art students find their individual style, or "voice."

Please contact me for more information and to schedule a lesson. I look forward to teaching you in a creative and fun style!" less...
