"Hi, my name is Asha G. I'm a college student at Georgia State University. I am studying two disciplines, Social work and entrepreneurship. I am very compassionate when it comes to young minds. The bulk of my experience has come from working at an all girls Summer camp under the name of Girls Rock Camp ATL, a music camp that teaches some 70 young girls how to write and play music along with many other valuable skills like self-love and many more. Some of my accomplishments have been tutoring my sisters both older and younger than me. Helping my older sister gain her GED after the passing of our mother who home -schooled us all through out our lives as well as tutoring my younger sister through middle school even helping her skip a whole grade ahead and I continue to still teach her through high school. I graduated with a 3.8 GPA with honors and distinctions earning a merit scholarship and getting accepted into over 8 colleges one being Penn State even through the adversities of loosing my mother. With that being said, I am capable of handling young minds as well as helping them succeed further then what they'd expect of themselves all while making sure to stress self-love and over all compassion.
I taught my younger sister to read who was very late to reading from the absence of our mother. I have also helped many young minds in my circle, from campers (10-16) to peers (17-22) write college entry essays, high school literature essays, and just simple writing assignments due for classes. I have also proofread many essays for various reasons listed above and very work applications. I have also helped my campers write music and poetry.
I am very qualified in the arts. I have been drawing since 5 years old. I have painted and sold many painting and done various art shows. I also won best artist in my district while in high school as well as many little scholarship competitions for my art. A more notable one was for the Ryan Cameron foundation, bullying awareness campaign. I have taught many art workshops at the Summer camp I'm most involved with as well as seasonal art classes hosted at Decatur's meditation center, Shambhala. With a total of 5 years of experience in teaching/guiding art and 15 years of being an artist.
I'm very excited to start working with creative, funky, and unique minds. I didn't really fit in during school and had a hard time finding my tribe. So, I definitely understand students who may be a bit shy or don't quite fit in with the crowd. I'm here to say that I understand that side of things and would welcome you with open arms to contact me. So, that we can began the path to gaining some academic confidences and just self-love and self-appreciation in general." less...
