"I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. I lived in New York City for 5 years before moving to Maryland 15 years ago. While living in Maryland I taught both piano and Japanese. I recently moved to California with my family. I have two daughters. One is at UC Berkeley and the other is at UCSB.

I have taught students from as young as four years old to adults in their 70s. My passion is teaching. It is amazing to see each student learn and enjoy as they take lessons. You can learn no matter how old you are. Each student’s progress is different but it is only important that you do progress and enjoy the process. Seeing this happen is just wonderful!

I taught as a full-time teacher at private middle school. I also worked a long-term substitute Japanese teacher at elementary school. I have been a private tutor for more than 5 years.

I studied piano at Tamagawa University in Tokyo as a piano major. I have been teaching piano for more than 15 years. Classically trained but I enjoy playing & teaching all type of music. I have taught more than 150 piano students and can provide numerous references.

Whether I am teaching piano or Japanese, the most important goal is that my students enjoy my lessons. I understand that every student is different and I prepare my lessons to fit each one’s interests and needs." less...
