"Hi, everyone! My name is Sam, and I am a student at Harvard University studying Sociology with a secondary in Economics and a citation in Spanish. On campus, I am involved with the Strong Women, Strong Girls mentorship program and the Harvard University Band, among other organizations. I was a math and Spanish tutor in high school, and have also worked with several students on college application/ essay prep. The college application process and ACT/ SAT process can be an overwhelming time--especially during the current COVID-19 pandemic--but I have found through my own experiences that these can be a fulfilling processes to be proud of if approached with an open mindset. I would love to be able to share my experiences and help students in any way that I can!
In high school, I really enjoyed taking math courses like Geometry, Pre-Calc, Algebra II, AP Calculus AB (score of 5), and AP Statistics (score of 5). I scored a 770 on my final SAT Math section, and a 35 on my ACT Math. As a Commended National Merit Scholar, I took the PSAT twice (first scoring a 1320, then a 1450).
English has always been a favorite subject of mine, and I feel that this is an SAT/ ACT test section that can really reflect your improvement with some practice. My final SAT English score was an 800 after scoring a 5 on both AP English Language and AP English Literature courses in high school.
Throughout my college application process, I applied to 15+ schools with several interviews and college campus visits along the way. I was pretty uncertain about where I wanted to end up when I was applying, but this process taught me a great deal about organization, time management, and expressing my interests and goals.
I would love to be able to help high school students with math course practice, standardized testing, and the college application process, and feel that my experiences with these areas would allow me to provide strong advice. I look forward to connecting with you and figuring out a schedule that works best for you!" less...
