About myself: I love speaking and teaching Spanish! I am into my 13th year of teaching Spanish as a private tutor with over 4,000 hours of tutoring, and I have worked with 354 students from many states through Wyzant! I am also certified as a substitute teacher in Illinois, and in the spring of 2022 I taught full-time as a long-term substitute for Spanish I and III at a local high school.

About my approach: regardless of the curriculum used in the classroom I focus on building the student's confidence by laying a strong grammar foundation. I try to smoke out the learning gaps and then go to work on the missing concepts. Also each student will spend a large portion of each session practicing oral and listening skills. I will often ask my students to "teach" me a concept in order to solidify their understanding of a concept and to reveal their true level of understanding. Furthermore, I will challenge each student to become a true learner and to seek mastery rather than to simply learn enough to pass a test. I help my students to understand the WHY behind the grammar rather than telling them to do something "JUST BECAUSE". I will also direct all students to some of the best, interactive, online resources available today to aid their Spanish studies.
