"Hi! My name is Vanessa and I am a first year medical student. I graduated from Cornell University in 2014, with a B.S. in Policy Analysis and Management. I am studying medicine to not just become a doctor and know how to treat the human body, but to also have the knowledge to adapt social programming and health-focused interventions to create a more health society, especially among marginalized or vulnerable communities.
During my time at Cornell, I worked as a program assistant and tutor for Upward Bound, a Dept of Edu NGO focused on helping low-income, first generation students pursue a higher education after high school. My strategy when studying or trying to dominant a subject is REVIEW and COMPREHENSION CHECKS. I've used this strategy since high school throughout all my AP classes, in the post-bacc program when I took all the premed sciences and even now in med school. My priorities are streamlining learning and adapting to individual needs when learning. My schedule as a first year student is VERY FLEX" less...
