"As an Indiana licensed 5-12 Math teacher, I have taught many levels--mostly in-person but also virtual. I have also taught college-level Algebra and Trig and tutored athletes at a Big Ten university. My college students were mostly non-traditional completing their bachelor's degrees. Many tended to be anxious about math and needed more one-on-one instruction. I have also taught non-credit math needed for the workplace through a local community college. Those students were almost always resistant to taking a math class. It was my job to help them see how the math class could make their jobs easier.

I love convincing students that they can do math and that sometimes it can be fun and fulfilling to understand their lessons. By asking questions and listening to students, I am able to determine that precise point that is confusing. After that, the rest of the lesson makes more sense. Basics are important to know and many students missed them in previous lessons.

Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Trigonometry are my strengths. As a non-traditional college math student, I fully understand the frustration and embarrassment at not understanding something that everyone else seems to think is "easy". This has led me to understand students' stumbling blocks, thus leading to their successes.
