"Hi, I'm Kevin. I'm originally from metro Atlanta, but I got my Systems Engineering degree at Washington University in St. Louis where I discovered my passion for tutoring. I've always been "a math person," and somewhere along the way, I realized I had the ability to help other people understand math as well. In my freshman year of college, what began as helping a couple friends with Calculus one afternoon grew into something bigger. Over time, it became a recurring thing, but word also spread to other people in my dorm. People I had never met before would come up to me and ask, “Are you Kevin? I hear you're good at explaining Calculus." While I had tutored some of my younger cousins and family friends in the past, this college experience was when I got proof that not only did I truly enjoy tutoring, but I was pretty good at it.

Post-college, I have one year of experience tutoring high school students in Trigonometry, Precalculus, AP Calculus AB, and AP Calculus BC. These sessions were one on one, and the students had a wide range of abilities and needs. Some used tutoring to catch up, some used it to keep pace, and some used it to get ahead. A subject like math is cumulative; you can't successfully build on a shaky foundation. One of my best strengths as a tutor is that I'm able to detect exactly which concepts a student is struggling with - whether it’s what we’re currently working on or if it's something from the past that needs to be revisited. While I have some core practices that I believe in, I’m also able to adapt as needed. There’s a psychology to teaching; it’s not one size fits all. In a classroom full of students, it’s hard to take this approach, but that’s the beauty of one-on-one tutoring.

Feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions or if you’re ready to schedule a lesson!" less...
