"I am 29 years old, married with two children and have lived in Boise for almost five years. I was born in Hawaii and still have family there to visit. I am currently attending BSU to obtain my undergraduate degree in History for Secondary Education and eventually my masters degree. I began in the education field as an after school instructor in San Francisco. CA and came to realize I have a natural affinity to teach students. So I decided to combine my passion/ hobby of History into teaching. My strongest skills for teaching is getting on the level of students and finding their unique way of learning things to help them better understand subject matter.
Aside from the fact that History requires a lot of reading comprehension, writing skills in the form of research papers, and the ability to convey information, English composition has always come naturally to me. Throughout High School I was in English AP courses. The ability to teach proper grammar, sentence structure, and comprehension of material is invaluable. After all, English took many centuries to perfect, lets make sure it kept that way.
In my tenure so far at BSU, I have taken a number of History courses. From European History after 15th century, American History, Ancient Civilizations (western) and a number of others. Also, History is a hobby for me and find it fascinating to learn about and pass that knowledge on. History to me is the greatest story ever told, because it tells the story of us. Where we came from, and quiet possibly where we are going.
I know school can be tough, I know there are subjects that just don't resonate with you or just can not wrap your head around. I am here to help facilitate how YOU learn and unlock the potential you have to learn new and difficult things. Everyone has the capacity to learn new and difficult things, however, not everyone learns the same way. Lets find that way." less...
