"My Philosophy

I have been quite privileged to have experienced a life provided to me by my parents because of their work. I was born in one foreign country where I lived for some time before moving to another foreign country. During this whole time, I routinely traveled to other foreign countries and took in all the various different cultures on this side of the hemisphere. For an American, this vision is usually one of contrasts and comparisons, and no contrast or comparison is clearer than that of education and its impact.

Most Southern American countries simply do not, by their own history, have much invested in education, and while this is slowly changing in modern times, its impact has been profound. There is an entire culture revolving barely getting any education and simply being content with that. That idea is spread from father to son, continuing a chain of lack of education in the vast majority of the population. These people are then taken advantage of by people in various offices, by politicians and by those who hold the most power and wealth in the country, simply because these uneducated people, as good as they might be, simply do not know any better and do not have nor understand how to protect themselves or obtain the knowledge to advance in life.

From an American point of view, where graduating high school is essentially taken for granted, it’s almost difficult to understand how a boy is told by his father to quit school at the end of the third or fourth grade simply because he does not think it will do him any better.

The transformation that occurs when these boys then grow up, and as adults, often into their 40s and 50s, and they finally receive the education they missed so many years ago is astounding. On nearly every occasion that I have been a witness to, the cycle is immediately broken, with fathers insisting their children complete every single possible year of education they can afford.
