"TUTORING EXPERIENCE:

I began studying Spanish in high school and continued throughout college, which led me to graduate with a minor in Spanish from Liberty University in 2002.

In 2003, I spent a year in Guatemala where I worked as a volunteer and tutor for the first time. In the morning, I taught Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st grade students at a local school. And in the afternoon, I worked at an orphanage where I helped students with their daily homework assignments. After teaching English to children anywhere from three to eight years old, while also speaking Spanish fulltime as a tutor, I became fluent in the language. That’s where I developed a passion for speaking and teaching Spanish, as well as teaching Spanish speakers English.

When I returned home, I began an ESL program for adults at my church in Savannah and taught weekly English classes for two years. It was an amazing experience and I still keep in touch with some of the students today. I also tutored one-on-one, helping students with English and the lessons covered in class. Most recently, I worked with high school students studying Spanish through online schools.

My husband is Hispanic and Spanish is his first language. We speak Spanish at home, so if I ever have questions, I have the perfect person to ask!

In closing, I have experience working with all ages, I’m fully bilingual and I’m looking forward to helping more people with both English and Spanish. I can’t wait to meet new students in the Savannah-Hilton Head area and share my love for this language.

TUTORING STYLE:

My tutoring style is specifically designed to meet the needs of each student. I like to learn about them, find out what motivates them, what they are passionate about and what type of learner they are. I try to use exciting examples of how being successful in the Spanish language can be beneficial, in hopes they stay motivated and work hard.
