"I have always loved learning, and did well in school from the beginning. It wasn't until my youngest daughter was in second grade that I began to teach Japanese to her class, and from then on, which was about 12 years ago, I have been enjoying teaching and tutoring privately, as well as being a substitute teacher. I love what I teach, and it shows. I bring a high level of academic rigor as well as humor and kindness, to support students in moving through difficult subjects or themes, or just to study something I offer than no one else does (i.e. Japanese).

I love working in small groups and one-on-one because each student is unique, and find that with one-on-one tutoring that the material at hand is actually assimilated more rapidly than when there are multiple students. I also love the English language, as well as art, and enjoy sharing my knowledge and expertise with youth who want to delve deeper.

I speak impeccable Japanese and I instruct my students to enunciate correctly. I engage students and make the subject enjoyable if not downright fun. I love speaking Japanese more than just about anything I could think of, besides writing a poem or painting a picture.

I have an outstanding understanding of the English language, and excelled in writing and literature since I was a young child. I love to write, and to know how to write grammatically. There is nothing that gets me riled more than to see an apostrophe after a word, when the intent is to pluralize the word, which does certainly not involve any apostrophes.

I love to paint and draw since a young age, and have recently spent several years re-acquainting myself with painting and have taken 5 semesters of watercolor, oil, acrylic, and printmaking. I love to encourage and foster creativity, and also to help the student quell his or her critical voice, which has no place in the art arena.

If you want to jump start an area of your studies, or want to learn something totally new, and if Japanese, English or Art is on your menu, then I am the one to" less...
