"I have been teaching for over two decades and have loved every minute of it. I began my career working with kids in an alternative school who had just transferred out of the Illinois Department of Corrections out who had been expelled from their Public schools. These students ranged in age from 12-22 in all subject areas including English, mathematics, science, social sciences, and vocational education. From there I started teaching in a special education setting. I have taught all academic subjects to junior high and high school students with special needs.
I believe all students can learn and will be lifelong learners. I believe we all have different gifts and talents to share with and compliment one another. Some of my favorite memories are seeing struggling learners, the ones who lost hope, and the ones who weren't believed in succeed. Let's do this!!
When I'm teaching concepts that may be difficult for students, I always try to link the material to something that's important to the student. When we relate the material to something we're interested in, it makes more sense.
I have a BS in Special Education and Elementary Education, a MS in Special Education. I've been teaching students with special needs for nearly 25 years. In that time, I've learned we all unique and have different methods of learning. I'll try anything and everything and won't give up. I believe all students can succeed.
I'll be your cheerleader right from the start because I believe in you. Contact me. If like to learn about you so I can help you succeed." less...
