"I began tutoring in August, 2015, at a learning center in the East Bay. The center specializes in tutoring youngsters from Korea, assisting them in learning English, as well as helping them with a few other school subjects. I have greatly enjoyed working with first graders through high schoolers and been impressed by how disciplined, hard-working, and curious they are. I have worked with students to improve their reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, pronunciation, and writing abilities.

Although originally a history major in college, I later changed to an environmental discipline. In the late 2000's, I transferred from Diablo Valley College to U.C. Berkeley as a Conservation and Resource Studies major. The most memorable classes I had at Berkeley are Wildlife Ecology, for which I had a dynamic and engaging professor, and Communicating Ocean Science to Informal Audiences (COSIA), taught in conjunction with the Lawrence Hall of Science. In this course, students learned to prepare science lessons to present to museum visitors who were of widely varying ages and backgrounds.

At Diablo Valley College, I completed IGETC requirements and an A.S. degree. My cumulative GPA is 3.75. I have taken several courses in English, including critical thinking and public speaking. Other classes include U.S. History, History of Western Civilization, environmental science, marine biology, oceanography, and physical geography. I also have a Certificate of Accomplishment in Geographic Information Systems/Global Positioning System, which included courses in GIS, GPS, remote sensing, and maps/cartography. In fall semester, 2016, I was employed as the geography tutor at Diablo Valley College, assisting students with understanding geographic concepts, including weather and climate, atmospheric pressure and wind, geology, mapping, and the biosphere.
